At Furious Koalas, we are proud to share some exciting news: our Creative Director and founding partner, Carlos González Morcillo, will lead the G-9 Digital Campus. Morcillo has been appointed Director of the Shared Digital Campus of the Group of 9 Universities (G-9). This recognition highlights his outstanding leadership in artificial intelligence, computer graphics, and his dedication to advancing digital education.
A Remarkable Career
Carlos González Morcillo boasts an impressive professional career that positions him as a key figure in academia, technology, and business. He is a Professor of Technologies and Information Systems at the School of Computer Science in Ciudad Real, with over 3,000 hours of teaching experience since 2002.
As a researcher, he has focused on cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and computer graphics, leading more than nine research projects with funding exceeding €550,000. Additionally, he has contributed to over 30 technology transfer initiatives, excelling in transforming academic knowledge into practical solutions.
In the business domain, Carlos serves as our Creative Director at Furious Koalas, a spin-off he founded in 2015 that has been at the forefront of developing innovative graphical applications. His visionary approach also extends to education, where he has directed the Expert Course in Video Game Development since 2011 and coordinates the DigitALL project, aimed at enhancing digital skills training.
A New Challenge: Transforming Digital Education
The G-9 Shared Digital Campus is one of the most prominent initiatives in Spanish higher education. Under Carlos’s leadership, the primary objective will be to create a tool that allows all G-9 universities to access virtual campuses in an integrated manner. This advancement will enable students, educators, and technical staff to benefit from a joint educational offering, fostering collaboration and learning across institutions.
The Shared Digital Campus has seen significant growth, expanding from 96 to 180 online courses and increasing enrollments from 4,664 to 7,498 participants. With the goal of becoming the “most important digital training metacampus in Spain,” the next challenge is to streamline access with a single user account per institution, making the educational offering more accessible and efficient for all group members.
